TARGET GROUP OF PARTICIPANTS:
Application are invited from STUDENTS, POSTGRAD, PHD STUDENTS and EXPERIENCED EXCAVATORS
AVALIABLE SESSIONS:
SESSION 1 = 30 JUNE-26 JULY
SESSION 2 = 1 SEPTEMBER-20 SEPTEMBER
SESSION 3 = 22 SEPTEMBER-11 OCTOBER
SESSION 4 = 13 OCTOBER-25 OCTOBER
OBJECTIVES:
Activities will include, introductory lessons about Tuscan archaeology, Methodology of landscape archaeology and excavation, Archaeological excavation, find-cleaning, recording and documentation using advanced computer methods and mobile technology.
LOCATION AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL CONTEXT:
In the earth of Tuscany between Maremma and Val'Orcia the Lab of
Landscape archaeology and Remote Sensing implementing the archaeological mapping programme of the Province of Grosseto found an important roman-medieval context characterised by two main phases, the first one showing the remains of a huge roman villa followed from the ruins of a parish church. During the first season of excavation the complexity of the context emerge very clearly confirming previous prospection and hypothesis but also opening sever new series of questions that will try to answer during next month field work.
COSTS:
FULL ACCOMMODATION AND MEALS WILL BE PROVIDED FROM THE ORGANIZATION.
TRAVEL COST ARE NOT INCLUDED therefore every participant will cover his own cost.
