International Symposium on Virtual Archaeology and Cultural Heritage - Pistoia, Italy, 25-26 Septemb
1/7/14
The 14th International Symposium on Virtual Archaeology and Cultural Heritage - Pistoia, Italy, 25-26 September 2014
CALL FOR PAPERS
VAST2014 will address the theme of Virtual Research Environments, i.e. “innovative, web-based, community-oriented, comprehensive, flexible, and secure working environments conceived to serve the needs of modern science” in the domains of humanities, cultural heritage and archaeology.
Some distinct features of the symposium are: a significant number of invited speakers addressing the theme both from the humanities/heritage perspective and from the technology one; about half of the time dedicated to discussion in break-out sessions; a very low registration fee, of only 100 Euro, which includes meals, to support the participation of a low-income audience.
A selected number of contributed papers of up to 8 pages will be also accepted. They will focus on topics of methodological importance or report about individual tools or relevant experiences, with at least one section explaining how the proposed topic contributes to the VRE vision. The deadline for paper submission is August 10th at midnight, with final notification of acceptance by 10th September. Please contact the symposium chair (chair@vast2014.eu) if you have particular problems with these deadlines.
The conference proceedings will be published on-line by the conference date, and will be printed later in a revised version with a major scientific publisher.
