Trinity Lecturer in Historical Archaeology. University of Cambridge
23/8/12 .- http://www.jobs.ac.uk
Applications are invited for a permanent University Lectureship in Historical Archaeology, to start on 1st January 2013 or as soon as possible thereafter. This post will be held in conjunction with a Fellowship (or Honorary Membership) of Lucy Cavendish College. The starting salary for this post will be limited to points 49-51 within the Grade 9 salary range (£37,012 - £39,257).
Applicants will be expected to have a PhD, a proven ability to undertake research, a strong publication record and an active research project or plans for one which will attract graduate students and post-doctoral researchers. The post holder will be a member of the teaching staff of the Department of Archaeology and Anthropology and will provide lectures, teaching and research supervision at undergraduate and graduate levels in Historical Archaeology, broadly defined as the post-Roman, medieval and post-medieval archaeology of Europe and the archaeology of European colonialism.
The post-holder will also be expected to provide teaching in team-taught thematic courses within the Department and Division. Normal duties include examination and assessment, supervision of MPhil and PhD students, administration and outreach. Preference is likely to be given to applicants with research interests and teaching expertise that complement existing strengths within the Division, and with the potential to develop further the inter-faculty links between Archaeology, Classics, History and Anglo-Saxon Norse and Celtic.
The successful candidate will also be expected to become the Director of Studies in Archaeology and Anthropology at Lucy Cavendish College, a college for mature women students which currently admits two-three students in this Tripos each year. Directors of Studies are involved in admissions and organize and contribute to individual and small group teaching of undergraduates in their college.
